Research Topics
The research group focuses on structural and functional aspects of synaptic transmission and plasticity at the level of neuronal networks, synapses and neurotransmitter receptors. Three-dimensional reconstructions will be used to visualize, quantify and compare the subcellular structure of individual synapses. These models, together with density maps of different neurotransmitter receptors, will help to explain the functioning of different central synapses in the normal and pathologically altered brain.
